We recently made a trip to the Puerto Plata filled with three large bags of baseball equipment for the kids and teenagers who play ball down in the Dominican. This trip was made possible by the generous donations to the Forkball Foundation, and some of our newest donors, who we recognize below:
- We received a generous check for the foundation John McCahan and Bob Borgen of Upland, CA. We met them in Puerto Plata back in 1998 and have kept in touch over the years. Forkball thanks these tow for their generous gifts, and we look forward to seeing them down in the D.R. again soon!
- Paul, Tinie & Joey Roosendaal are friends from the Netherlands who donated an assortment of baseball gloves for our October 08 visit. We can’t wait to get these gloves back onto the field down in Puerto Plata. Thank you to the
Roosendaal family!
- Bob DelPonte of Tewksbury, MA made a large donation of high quality catcher's equipment including catcher’s masks, helmets, chest protectors, shin pads and cleats. Good catcher’s equipment is particularly hard to find down in the Dominican, so this will make a lot of young Puerto Plata catchers very happy. Thanks you Bob for your generosity!
We would like to thank everyone who has helped the Forkball Foundation to deliver equipment to ballplayers in the Dominican Republic, including:
- The gracious volunteers from Tewksbury Youth Baseball who work so hard to make Little League a great experience for the boys and girls in town. President Frank Flanagan and his team have been great supporters of the Foundation from the beginning, donating old uniforms and gently used equipment that we have brought to youth teams down in Puerto Plata. Thanks to everyone at TYB for their continued support!
- A special thanks to Billerica Little League and their Equipment Manager Russ Boutwell. Russ and the good folks from Billerica have donated a number of items, including baseballs, bats and old uniforms to the Forkball Foundation. Billerica runs a first class youth baseball program for their kids, and we can’t
thank them enough for their generosity!
- Bill McCallister and his company Champion's Choice in Wilmington. Bill and his
team have generously donated both team uniforms and baseball equipment to
the Foundation. Bill runs a great operation, specializing in team uniforms,
athletic footwear, practice gear and sports equipment. You can visit them in
person at 379 Middlesex Ave. in Wilmington. Or you can visit them online at
www.chchne.com. Thanks to Bill and Champion's Choice!
- Nick, Amie and Bodie Lapierre of North Hampton, New Hampshire. We thank the
Lapierre’s for their generous donation to the Foundation. Nick was a former
Tewksbury Little Leaguer and avid whiffle ball player, whose son Bodie will be
signing up T-ball before you know it. Thanks all!
- Thanks to everyone who donated at the first ever Forkball Foundation Pool
Party, recently held in Medford. The party raised
over $450 for the Foundation, which we will use to buy and ship equipment to the Dominican in October. Thanks to everyone
who contributed!
